This year's PRIDE festival had a historicĀ feel. There was the usual parade and debauchery in streets, as people danced naked to the electronic thumping of the music. But there were also emotional, quiet moments where partners applied for marriage licenses at City Hall. Many of them waiting for years, even decades for the legal right. Here are a few photos.

Tragedy is always difficult to understand. Tragedy caused from something seemingly random is impossible. The city of Fairfield lost a loved and cherished resident when California Highway Patrol Officer Kenyon Youngstrom was shot and killed during a traffic stop. His assailant was a computer programmer with no violent criminal record. Many of us struggled to understand what prompted someone considered "normal" to suddenly take a life. I covered the funeral with reporter Danny Bernardini.
