Violence sinks into photojournalism. In my short career, I have worked in some fairly violent places and the theme attracts me. They are the images I always reflect upon and the experiences that stay heavy on thought. It’s hard to justify taking some images, and it feels like we fall short in telling their narrative....

Some stories just fall into that “feel good” category. While many become cliched, there are those small gyms that incite hope and aspire. The Californian’s sports writer George Watkins found such a story and introduced me to James Romeo and his son Rocco. I’ll let James tell the story in the audio slideshow below.
